I believe strongly in setting goals. Most every teaching year I make goals but have not up to now published them online. I guess this year I thought they were more universally relevant. This year I used a three letter acronym “CST” to make my goals easier to remember. It stands for “California Standards Test.” My motto on this blog is: a teaching blog, “Nothing captivates learners like a dynamite lesson plan.” I of course believe that strongly but you can’t make a dynamite lesson plan without goals. My 3 main teaching goals for 2011-2012 stand for :
Consequence based rules.
Schedule based instruction.
Touchstone data driven instruction.
I won’t expand on them since I feel they are self-explanatory. They can be applied hundreds of ways. The important thing is how the individual sees them. I have found that three letter word acronyms for productivity really work. I know internalizing these goals will enhance my effectiveness. I have created my own criteria for success in this CST acronym. How much do you think about your teaching goals?
